Frequently Asked Questions
1) Why does Guide Suntan have two websites?
Guide Suntan operates two separate websites to clearly organize different types of services and information:
chiangdaohut.com is the official website for accommodation services, tour operations, and general travel information about Chiang Dao. It includes lodging, tour packages, and destination information for visitors traveling in the Chiang Dao area.
ichiangdao.com is the personal website of Guide Suntan, focusing specifically on birdwatching tours in Northern Thailand. It provides detailed information about birding routes, bird photography tours, and wildlife experiences led by a licensed local birding guide.
This separation helps customers easily find the right information based on their travel interests and ensures a clear distinction between accommodation and tour company services and specialized birding guide services.

5) What do Thai tourism laws have to do with my booking?
According to Thai tourism regulations, all tour operations must comply with laws and regulations enforced by the Department of Tourism. Key requirements include:
- Tour operators must hold a valid Tourism Business License
- Every tour must have an official Job Order specifying the itinerary, destination, date, and operating period before the tour begins
- Travel insurance must be provided for both tourists and licensed guides
- Licensed guides may only operate when officially assigned through a valid Job Order
- Failure to comply with these requirements may result in an illegal tour operation, commonly referred to as an “unlicensed tour” or tourism fraud
These regulations exist to:
- Protect tourist safety
- Maintain service quality standards
- Prevent illegal tour operations in Thailand
- Ensure accountability and legal protection for both tourists and service providers
