My name is SunTan. I am a licensed local guide in Northern Thailand, based in Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai.

Chiang Dao is not just where I work—it is where I spend most of my time in the field. I regularly explore the forest, follow bird movements, and observe seasonal changes to understand how birds use this landscape throughout the year.

A Local Guide Who Knows the Field

Birding in Northern Thailand is not only about visiting famous locations—it is about timing, conditions, and understanding bird behavior.

As a local guide, I spend 4–5 days a week in the field. This allows me to track:

  • Seasonal movements and migration timing
  • Feeding and breeding behavior
  • Habitat changes and weather conditions

Because of this, I adjust each trip based on real conditions—not fixed plans.

Birding in Northern Thailand

While Chiang Dao is my main base, I also guide birding trips across Northern Thailand’s top birding destinations:

Bird Photography Experience

In addition to birdwatching, I also focus on bird photography.

I offer opportunities to photograph birds in natural conditions, especially behavior such as feeding, bathing, and interaction.

One of the key locations is the Chiang Dao Hut bird pond, where birds regularly visit in a quiet and controlled environment. This allows close observation and photography while maintaining respect for wildlife.
